Mr. GAO graduated from China Southwest University of Political Science and Law in 1982 with a LL.B. degree and a LL.M degree from Shanghai Academy of Social Science, China, in 1985. In 1993, he went to U.S.A. to study and got his LL.M. degree from University of Arkansas.
From 1985 to 1993, Mr. GAO was a division chief for the Legal Department of China Ministry of Agriculture, Beijing, China.
In 1995, he acted as the China legal counsel for Tyson Foods, Inc., one of Fortune 500 based in Arkansas, U.S.A. In 1999, he acted as the in-house counsel and company secretary for a Sino-foreign equity joint venture (with a total investment of USD200 million) in northeastern China.
Mr. GAO participated in feasibility study and negotiation for jointventures, drafting letter of intent, joint venture contracts, articles of association of joint ventures, assisting shareholders in share transfer and increase, dealing with legal issues in acquisition of lands, farmer claims, government relations, project contracting, import & export of equipment, technology transfer, technology support, environmental protection, employment contracts, remuneration, residential permit of expatriates, and preparation of documents for the board of directors and communication between Chinese and foreign parties. He has practiced law nealry 30 years and represented clients from China, U.S.A., France, Switzerland, Columbia, in litigations and arbitrations relating to disputes in international trade, domestic trade, infringement of intellectual property rights, joint venture, employment, commodity futures, environmental protection, equipment supply and real estate.
Since 2004, Mr. GAO has offered his lectures on China contract law, intellectual property laws and ICC trade terms to the universities and companies in China. He is the vice chairman for China Agricultural Law Association and the arbitrator for Tianshui Arbitration Committee, Gansu Province, China.
He focuses on foreign investment in China, international trade, contract, corporation, employment, inheritance, rural development and agriculture. He is a member of Beijing Bar Association.
